What is Digital Copyright?
Digital copyrights are the laws and regulations which protect a created work from illegal copy, use, or distribution without credit or permission.
What does this mean for you?
This means that as a student, you are not allowed to find a piece of work on the Internet and claim it as your own. Claiming a work or a piece of work as your own is referred to as plagiarism.
What is plagiarism?
To put it in simple terms, plagiarism is stealing another person's work. It is also referring to or claiming as your own another person’s work without providing a proper citation. Some materials may be used under the claim of fair use.
What is fair use?
Fair use is defined as exemptions in copyright law, which allows for the quoting or use of materials for criticism, news reporting, research, and education without the copyright holder's permission or payment.
